La Scuola
Made it through my first day of school. Managed to escape from the bully who was after my lunch money. But, I totally botched up my test this morning, and now in with the slow kids. But, not all bad, and maybe this will allow me to look smarter than I am. There's only 3 other students in my section: a young girl from Japan who is engaged to an Italian, a young Korean priest, and an older lady from N.Y. (Should be a good joke in here, if we all walk into a bar.) Had a very relaxing sunday, My landlady, Maria Grazie, took me on a walking tour of the area. It was about 75 and everyone was outside, so very crowded. Passed by a few familiar places.
Some old building in need of repairs.
Pantheon
Piazza di Spagna. Or Spanish Steps. This is a block from school, and where I sat and had un caffe' this morning.
Last night ended with a simple dinner prepared by Maria Grazie A fritatta pasta, followed by a salad with fresh mozzarella and un bottiglia di vino bianco. By the way, here is Maria Grazie, who like every woman I know, doesn't want her picture taken.
She was in middle of serving tonight's dinner of gnocchi with sausage.
Was going to go out after dinner, but Maria informed me that a movie based on the popular series with Commissario Montalbano set in Sicilia was just starting. These are books written by Andrea Camilleri, and I've read about half a dozen of them. They give a good taste of Sicilia, and was fun to see them brought to life on screen. Of course, it was in Italian, and I missed half of what was going on. So, now its about 11:45 and I didn't do my homework because someone made me watch TV. Guess I was meant to be with the slow kids. A domani. Ciao

A presto!
Sounds like you have a fairy godmother in Maria Grazia and are having a great time. Just remember to throw the first punch and then run like the dickens if that bully bothers you again.
ReplyDeleteNow seriously. You're a LAWYER for heaven's sake. You should be able to talk your way out of whatever any bully might confront you with.
